RIP Grump.
Grumpy, along with Smokey Yunick just about re-defined small block Chevy performance in the late '60's-early 70's.

Rest in peace, Grumpy. I have never seen him without his trademark fishing hat or cigar. I got to talk to him for a couple of minutes in the staging lanes @ Englishtown a few years back. he wasn't the least bit grumpy. he sure knew how to make horsepower.

Two things about " The Grump" that I won't forget..... What he did to elevate the Pro Stock class and the Burt Reynolds pose he did wearing black socks, with a cigar on a bearskin rug. Rest in peace, if a racer like you can ever slow down.....

Back in the late 70's I was at Atco Dragway on a Wednesday night, Mountain Motor night for Pro Stocks.

Grump didnt even use the clutch when he started the car, lol

Stood in his pits that night and he walked over to us and just started talking to us. He was a very nice guy....

I always enjoyed watching him or his drivers in the past.......

RIP Grumpy
