I've finally had a chance to get through a series of three fill ups of general, around town trips (very little to no open highway cruising) with reasonable, consistent driving. Here are the numbers:

131.4 miles - 9.34 gallons = 14.06 MPG
137.4 miles - 10.34 gallons = 13.28 MPG
189.9 miles - 13.0 gallons = 14.60 MPG (might be a little bit of open highway here)

That's an average of 13.98 MPG.

Previously, I had been seeing an average of 10 MPG, so these numbers equate to a 39.8% improvement in fuel efficiency with the shimmed distributor and GOLD springs (lighter than stock, but heaviest in the recurve kit).

Spectacular!

These numbers are uncorrected based on oversized tires and an uncorrected speedo. The actual numbers are even better. And this is pre-200_4r, but then again, the benefits of the OD tranny would really be seen on longer cruising trips.

I'm extremely happy with these results. All for a cost of around $20~$25.

Okay, I must have missed the part of what you did. Was there a guide on doing this somewhere? I'm already getting 14 MPG, I'm wondering if I do this if I would see an improvement...
