can someone help me out im not sure what this part is but it is leaking coolant and i dont know what the part is called to get a new one

Heater control valve

That's the heater control valve. It regulates the amount of heated antifreeze to flow through it. They are easy to replace.

Can't that be bypassed? I dont have it on my new engine.

thanks the engine is from a 77 camaro so not sure if this works the same for my car but im gonna get rid of the intake mounted valve and get one that is made for this year car, plastic so no rust, also cheaper, hopefully wont have to worry about it after the replace

It can be bypassed, when bypassed heated water flows unimpeded into the heater core, if the heater doors and controls are working properly this usually isnt an issue. The part is however easily installed so as long as the vacuum that actuates the valve gets there then there isnt any reason not to have one.
