Next week I will try to get the new fuel pump and sensor in the fue tank. I plan to bolt the fuel pump on the sensor, if that’s the correct location for it.

I wouldn’t put it on the nut side. I’m not sure what you mean about a tube.
From my earlier post
Remove the ball chain currently on the cruise control, don't lose it.
Use wire with a ball on one end and a loop on the other.
Put the ball in the little pull chain barrel fitting on the cruise control end
Take the throttle cable off the stud
Put the loop over the stud
Put the throttle cable back on the stud and over the loop.
I like to put a zip tie around the cruise control loop cable and the end of the throttle cable, not too tight, look at the photo of my setup.
You may need to tweak your bracket some to get the pull length and angle correct.

Thank you. So the cable needs to be in front where the throttle cable connects?

I put it behind the throttle cable. Is that the proper place? The brass colored link on the end of the cable. Is that the proper piece on the end?

You will find a little brass barrel under this black sleeve. Hook the ball on the end of the wire loop to that brass barrel. Slide the sleeve back over the barrel.

Not to be a smart-ass, but this system seems like it's way more trouble than it's worth. If it was put in by somebody you paid to install why don't they fix it right?
I do not think those copper core wires are doing that system any good. 1978 engines should have fiber cores I believe. Copper core maybe interfering with the way that fi system runs. I could be wrong.

You are correct. I don't know the reason the shop didn't connect the cruise control. This is an engine from a 73 El Camino and I put those plug wires on myself so that choice was on me. The engine is running great. I've been trying to figure out and fix mistakes that the shop made when they installed it for me. I look at the mistakes that they were supposed to happen so I can learn how it works and fix it.

Thank you very much for your help. I was thinking that the fitting was going to fits on the brass ball, thank you for confirming that. Thank you for your sharing where I need to put the zip tie. That was another of my questions. I hope to get that done today and will share it to make sure I have it correct. Thank for your help.

Maybe it's so you could teach us about patience and humility.
Much respect for you, sir.

This is what it looks like now. Anything I need to adjust?

It's not pretty, but I suspect it will work, the wire with loop is very forgiving.
You may have to bend the bracket some to improve the angle.
Worst case you may have to redrill and move the bracket towards the outside a little bit.
Give it a drive and test it out at several different speeds.
Thank you for your help. The screw should be moved towards the driver side fender to get rid of that angle? I'll try and take it for a drive today.

Yes, I am not saying that angle won't work, it might work fine, but less angle would be better.
Good luck, I love my cruise control, too.
Thank you. I understood what you were talking about, just wanted to verify that change if it doesn't work. I appreciate your help.

I took it out for a drive today. The cruise control worked pretty good. At 25 mph it held it at 25 mph, but the engine slowed down and sped up while the needle stayed right on the 25 mph mark. It held the speed it was set at . I drove through 25mph, 35 mph,45 mph, 55 mph, and 65 mph , it held the speed at all those levels. It even held the speed going over cattle guards and RR tracks.

78, 25 might be a little slow. Maybe in between gears. My instruction says over 45.

Thank you. It did very well at the higher speeds. I just wanted to let it be known what happened with the cruise control at all the speeds I traveled at.

I started it up today and it ran terrible. The idle was fluctuating terribly and it had a ticking sound. It almost died 3 times while idling. I stepped on the throttle and the engine smoothed out, but went back to the ticking sound when I let of it. I decided not to drive it till I get the problem corrected.
