That is their early model 350 with a 2 piece rear main seal. You've got a 1 piece in your ride now, and that's what I'd get for it. The 1 piece version is a 290HP model and runs about $2000 with free shipping! Here's the link.

It's a very good deal. My local GM dealer wants almost $2400 for the same motor, my cost. It does vary around the country. I found out Jegs sells more GM crate motors than anybody else period. That's how they can give such great prices.

That Jegs 350 is a fantastic deal, and you're saving something upwards of $200 just on the shipping. If you get the $1500 one, you may need a different flex plate. Keep in mind you'll need a water pump, intake manifold, and valve covers.

Car Craft did a basic build-up of one last month and got 330 hp out of it with a new cam, thin head gaskets, an intake and carb.

I had the old 2pcseal crate motor in a work truck for about 8 years ( now in a friends impala). Was a good deal , a good engine internally, but damn those 2 pc seals. Definitely spend more for the later 1pc main, roller cam model. They're not hot rod motors, but are factory reliable.
As others have touched on, it,s an unaccessorized long block, so figure a budget for all the misc parts that should be swapped while it's apart. And on those parts, try to get the best ones you can. In 8 years of running the baseline crate 350 in a 9,000 pound work truck , it was items like the chinesequality rebuilt distributor, water pump, STARTERS, & edelbrock carbs that gave trouble, not engine internals.
Another note here,Jegs was out of stock on that engine, Ended up going through Pace Performance.

I learned real quick about the selection of parts and quality spend it now instead of twice and probably paying more to replace it the second time.

Don't worry about tax from Jegs. I'm in CA like you and have ordered tons of parts from Jegs, NO TAX! :nanawrench:

The deal about free shipping on motors from Jegs..... If the motor is on sale you won't get free shipping. If it isn't on sale they offer free shipping. It comes out about the same either way.

That make sense I saw that 350 for $1500.00 with free frt. and no tax I was going to get it and leave it in the warehouse till mine took a dive but I guess it's not the same match up to my truck without changing things and I have never done an engine swap so if it's not a direct fit I shouldn't try just to save a couple of bucks and end up spending more having someone do it for me.
Thanks

Some people don't like those motors because they are Heche En Mexico. I've got 2 of them that came in trucks I've bought and not a single problem out of them whatsoever. You get a Nodular iron crank, powder metal con rods and 4 bolt main. You can't beat what you get for the price. They are actual NEW motors, not remanufactured.

..heck,if your going to replace it and the price of gas,you might want to check out NAPA re- builds, I went through NAPA back in 04 and still running good, its rated at 220 H.P. the sad thing about it is, that my mother's 03 Impala V-6 has 220 H.P. ...

Mike if I go for this engine are there any issues with smog? Everything to do with smog equipment from my engine will bolt up, screw on etc. No drilling special brackets or surprise's correct or is there a California version? :dontknow:

Thanks

Anyone got decent life span from their crate engine.
I super skeptical of complete engines for $1500..heard too many horror stories.
They have to cut costs somewhere.
