I just had a TH350 put into my 66, with a 350 motor. The tranny shop put a new kickdown cable since my old one was for a powerglide.

Without the cable, my shifts and downshifts wouldn't work properly.

Others on this forum should chime in with their experience, but I believe you need that to be hooked up....

You're kickdown needs to be hooked up unless you like downshifting on the column. To make sure its hooked to the trans, pull the cable from where it hooks to the carb and see if you feel tension on it and if it snaps back towards the trans. If it does, hook it to the stud under the accelerator cable.(assuming you have a qjet) After its connected on the carb, you'll have to lift the tab behind the kickdown cable bracket and have someone push the gas pedal to the floor. When they push that down, the cable automatically adjusts and then you push the tab back down.

It will require a bracket on the intake to fit and adjust the cable. It has a square hole in it. If you don't have the bracket, the cable will not work.

I don't think the kickdown tranny cable is generation specific. I would think a cable for ANY 350 motor connecting to a TH350 tranny would be the same, no matter what year car it is in.
The cables are the same but some are different lengths.
