You're kickdown needs to be hooked up unless you like downshifting on the column. To make sure its hooked to the trans,pull the cable from where it hooks to the carb and see if you feel tension on it and if it snaps back towards the trans. If it does,hook it to the stud under the accelerator cable.(assuming you have a qjet) After its connected on the carb,you'll have to lift the tab behind the kickdown cable bracket and have someone push the gas pedal to the floor. When they push that down,the cable automatically adjusts and then you push the tab back down.
