Need to know what type of water pump my 84 SS with a 305 CID engine has on it. Is it a long or short one.

The easy way to tell is the gap between the back of the pump and the timing case cover. If there is virtually no gap it is a short. If there is about a 1/2" it is the long.

The production engines haven't used the short pump since the early days, from what I remember....

After the late 60's pretty much only Corvettes continued to use short water pumps, guaranteed your elky uses a long.
