Well i was on my way to work and i noticed a VERY strong gas smell in the car. Second of all i could not go over 800rpm with out it bogging out and shaking. And backfireing.

Its like it wasnt getting enough fuel, but yet it was very, very strong. I could smell the gas on my front porch when the elky was in the driveway.

It concerned me so when i got to work i poped the hood.... NO LEAKS???

I dont know if im at risk of any danger or the elky catching fire? Dont want that to happen.

Any advice?

Check under the car from front to back. Check the rubber hoses at the tank too. If it smells that bad it should be easy to find.

If you dont have a leak under the car check the charco canster for your smell or fuel pump

..check the oil level and smell the oil for gas fumes..might be a broke dighram in the fuel pump..:dontknow:

SOLVED IT!!!

Few problems.
1.) have a tiny leak out of the bottom gasket of the carburetor.
2.) no leak in gas line!
3.) have a tiny exhaust leak under the cab-smell of gas
4.) backfireing could be from the leak in the exhaust.....my guess is he didnt quite get it 100% welded when connecting muffler.

Bogging out..... Well theres my retarde carburetor getting worse by the hour...

All and all this dont get better till i fix the timing and carb!:nanawrench:
