Ok Gilby let the bondo begin!!!
I knew it wouldn't be long.

don't forget to paint the springs, shocks and sway bars ORANGE to match the model, or you'll screw everything up!

Ok,trying to work out what the original colour of this car was.Does anyone know what colour primer they used in '69? The reason l ask is that l reckon the original colour was a greeny blue aqua but according to my plate 65 65 that colour is Olympic gold.
Not one bit of gold anywhere so either the plate has been changed or my info on that colour number is wrong.
Gilby l reckon this is down your alley mate, your good at this stuff, any ideas?

hey! bring that to Belton and you could mount it on an award plaque for someone with the best paint job who had to scrape as much as you!
G'day Tom,l'm sure no-one has had to scrape as much as l have.....sheeeeeez!

count your blessings! taking 18 layers of paint off down to bare metal in 15-20 pieces is a LOT faster than sanding it all off!

anyway, it's keepin you off the streets

Yeah, definately better to scrape than sand Keyser.
Getting there now, tommorrow bumpers and door handles off, scrape lower sections on the hoist.
Sand back to metal then send it to the panel shop.
Above the rear wheel you can see where it's been hit and filled......still no rust!

So good news is NO RUST! Hard to believe but this old girl is as solid as a rock.Only rust l have found is in the lower left fender which is being replaced with a brand new unit,so no concern there.
What l did find is that in the lower sections where the chrome strips ran they did not remove the mounting pins.Instead they have filled it up to the height of those pins with bondo and painted it.
I knew bondo was there but to discover it was put there to hide the pins instead of rust is just great.
Right hand lower rear quarter has had a lot of bondo in it as it has been hit, again no rust.
The metal is clean and solid............you beauty!

Just parted with some hard earned, ordered new fenders,SS bonnet and rear bumper.
Freight was worth more than the parts!:eek3:

you shoulda had it shipped to Donny's. Then you could take them home from Belton as carry-on luggage!

Moose, after seeing what you are going through I understand why some lazy rodders are into Rat Rods. You will really feel good when she is finished.:snipersmilie:
