Hey el camino fam, here is my new project "diablito"... 1986 El Camino ss! I've had alot of projects in the past, but none that Ive gone to the extent of restoration like I will with this one. She's gonna be a complete ls swapped frame off restore. It'll be my first ls swap, so be kind with all of my "dumb questions"... Been about 8 years since my last gbody (Malibu) project. Any knowledge, opinions, and comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance... This is how I got it.... Be kind, lol

So had some down time with these winter blizzards in Texas and decided to gut the interior. To my surprise, very very little rust (mostly surface rust). Plan on doing a custom dash and custom seats/center console (floor shift), everything will be brand spanking new.... Or thats the plan at least.... Wife may disagree with my spending habits

Trying to get as much disassembled so I can hurry up and get my frame notched, reinforced, and powder coated. Then the fun of hiding credit card purchases from the wife can begin!

Got the rear end taken off the frame and the front end disassembled. After a week in single digits, to 70 degrees, I took the opportunity to remove all the lines and give it a once over with the power washer

That's where I'm at as of right now. Next I believe is the Frame notch, frame bracing, Frame boxing in, and the off to be powder coated.... Thinking of going with a silver or dark red powder coat.

Looking good. It's nice to not have rust. I think the frame bracing will stiffen it up a lot.

I went with all reproduction stuff in my interior. I had a bench seat model, so I welded in the console brackets, and put in a repro console, and a stock G-body floor shifter modified to work with a 4L60E. For me it's easier to use bolt/weld in stuff, rather than fabricate.

Thanks guys.... Ls swap has m kinda nervous..... Always done old 350s like it was nothing.... Just go to read up alot on what all I'm going to need for he swap. Lots of youtube videos as well.... Concentration is in he frame for now to make sure it will handle the extra power. Any suggestions on a good rear end setup that's not out of this world costwise?
