I have an '86 El Camino with a dark dash. None of the guage lights light up. I have not been able to examine each guage light but the two that I pulled didn't appear to be burnt out.

I checked the fuses first & was hoping to find a blown fuse. I found one 20amp fuse for the quages that appeared to still be solid.

Can anyone educate me on how to further remove the dash guage pod. I have it free other than the speedo cable holding me up. Of course there is only about 1" between the dash & the cluster to see down in there & I can't see much.

How about the lights? Anyone have any advise on why they might not be working?

Thank you
~JM~

could be your printed circuit that's gone bad ??

You should be able to reach your finger behind the speedo & push the clip in that's holding the cable in !!

welcome JM
see if you have power on the grey wire going to the pod,,that would be the inst. lamps..
the tail light fuse powers the head light switch, which powers the inst. lps fuse..

heres the diagrams http://www.maliburacing.com/wiring.html

dont forget to rotate the headlight switch for the dimmer on the dash lights..

the speedo cable is held in by a clip on the back of the pod,,
push the clip toward the pod,, and the cable should slide out..

article on gauge swap,may help..
