I figured out that the GM3858180 number is the SBC Blocks for my 1965 El Camino but not sure what this other number is on the engine T0325HCH?

Man what a cluster, well my next question would be, if it's not a 300 HP 327 L74, instead it's a 275 HP L??

Need more info. What is the casting date on the block? Typically a 3 letter code ending in H in the early years means it came with a Holley carburetor, which I believe they only had in `66 and `67, otherwise Chevrolet didn't start the 3 letter code until 1970.

Possibly an L30.
This is the GMHERITAGECENTER link for 1967 Impala.

Personally, I would not get hung up on the RPO designation.
The 327 were very good motors.
They would need to be changed along the way to fit today's fuel. So the internals are likely not the same.

more than likely.. HC 1965 327 Powerglide 275 4.you can look at the front of the heads, and see if there like a "Triangle" or a couple of "Humps". that too will help on the H.P. rating...:dontknow:
.. here a chart to help you out to identify the H.P. rating of your motor...

3858180 blocks were made in Tonawanda, New York and were 327 size for 250, 300, and 350hp Chevelle and other Chevrolet products. The T= Tonawanda, 325= March 25 assembly date and HCH= 327275 HP FOR A POWERGLIDE 1966 passenger car with a HOLLY Carb. Check the date code next to the distributor. Should be a letter [ A=Jan, B= Feb etc.] 15= day of month, 65 for 1965., 66 for 1966.

Most 327 Chevelles were made after October 1965. Many had Flint engines case # 3782870.

Engine matching?

Is it safe to say that the engine is not original because of the HCH. Or perhaps it may be late 1965. Still not sure.... and I'm trying to write a description for auction.

Thanks for all your input.
