Does anyone know what the purpose is for the orange and black wire that attaches to the back of the center AC vent?

The picture below is not my dash but found it during my research. I do have an orange and black wire that has no where to plug in.

Now I see where it goes but not sure why?

I don't think so because the blower motor works fine on all settings. It appears that the orange and black wire plugs into the vent somehow and I don't have any place to plug it in, so either my vent was changed or the wires not needed?

Your testing my tired OLD memory; but I think that it MAY be for the transmission controlled spark system. Can't tell for sure your year, but my 72 had a TCS relay mounted on the dash frame near the radio. I don't rember the color coding but orange for power seems about right. Maybe someone with one of those color coded wiring diagrams could be of help.

Hard to see but in this diagram 72 Wiring the TCS relay is just to the left of the wiper motor.

Pretty sure that’s the courtesy light plug for the glove box.
