PARTS UPDATE 4/20/2022 (I've gone thru the items)

note: if you're going to Belton X and want parts, I can pull them for you and bring them. and if someone else is going close to you and you want him to bring them back, we can do that to

note2: eventually what ever does not sell will be going to the metal recyclers, including the 305 engine block. the block is probably worth more in metal than it is as a rebuild

I now have the vehicle sitting wide open with the engine and tranny pulled 🍻 so parts a lot easier to get to. pretty much whatever you see in the pics is for sale. more pics here...

as mentioned before, some of these items will be $$ to ship. I've tried to price items accordingly so that item-price + shipping still saves you money, so you can get an OEM part that is no longer made.
I've also found that as these cars get older, the plastic parts get real brittle. Sometimes they look OK until you try to remove them and they break. So while I try to be careful when removing there is no guarantee it will survive. If it doesn't survive, you don't owe me for it. and you don't pay for it until I actually ship it.

I found I'm missing a body mount bolt and the lower bushing. Please check for a good one.
It may be difficult for me to purchase singles of these. However, if you have one each I'll take it

that will have to wait until I can get the cab area cut off from the body, probably mid-summer

I finally managed to get some "quality time" working on the flood Caballero. I now have both doors, the plastic feet covers for seat rails, the quarter windows, and the passenger fender removed.

my next step will be to remove the steering column and brake booster then cut off the cab in front of the seat rail mounts thru the floor pan. after that I will be cutting thru the seat rail mounts to the floor and hauling the seats out for trash (it's nasty). I'll make one more cut from there behind the seat and pretty much be done.

I'm trying to dig thru this thread and my Conversations to figure out who was asking for stuff. IIRC someone was asking for the plastic feet covers and someone else was asking for the quarter windows. if that was you, let me know.

whatever hasn't sold or been requested by the end of summer is probably going to the metal recycler. So if you want something, even if not listed here, let me know.

MAJOR UPDATE: 99% of the stuff has been removed and is now lying loose in the bed of the truck. I'm going to line it all up and start taking pictures. If I haven't sold it off in the next 3-6months it's going to the metal recycler.

still need to cut off the cab.

a side note of interest. the buyer also wanted the engine with the tranny even though I warned him it had been in a flood and was probably junk. sold it to him for an extra $50 (I had planned on taking it to the metal recycler)

he calls me back a day later and says 'yeah, it's ratty, but it appears to be an 80's Corvette 350 bored .030 over with 882 heads with an aluminum intake manifold' (not the 305 I thought it was)

oh well, it would have cost me a lot more to salvage it and wasn't worth it to me. told him he got great deal then. he's going to try and salvage the stroker crank. appears to have gone to a good home.

I'm kicking myself for not checking the engine build numbers !!!! I should have looked further after I noticed that the intake was aluminum.

Finally picked up the '81 Caballero from the flood. While there appears to be a lot of good solid parts, I'm pretty sure the engine is toast after being under water and the interior is just flatout disgusting. I doubt you'll want the bench seats, but hey, you never know (those are so nasty that if you pull them out you can have them). We'll know more once we do a pressure wash and get all the dirt (AND THE ANTS) out. I will be pulling the engine (305 v8) out for scrap but I'm sure the cast iron exhaust, accessory brackets, wiper linkage, etc, are good, so if you are interested in something, let me know. Until I really start getting into disassembly, everything is presumed to be in good shape and priced accordingly. If I find it in worse condition, I'll let you know and drop price accordingly.

You can view the general condition of the vehicle at this link...

The front clip has already been spoken for, as well as the rear license plate pocket. Some other items are pending and I do have emails from those folks.

To give you a general idea, I'm going to turn this into a trailer, so everything from cab-forward (except as noted as pending) is available. It's going to be hard to price some of this stuff because I can't guarantee it works (like the radio). So whatever knicky-knacky pieces you might need, just ask.

The list below will be added to as I go along, but if you don't see something here, ask and I'll get back to you about it. Buyer pays shipping.

Final note: I really don't know what some of this stuff is worth. If' you think I'm asking too much, point me to a similar item in like condition selling for less. I'm not looking to make a mint, I just want to get rid of the parts I don't need and give ECC members the opportunity to get some hard to find Caballero items they need or want.

Before I sell anything, I will take close-up pictures of the item and text them to you so you know what you're getting before committing. Don't want unhappy fellow members.
