Hello. I'm wondering what 15 x 8 Rally wheels would look like on my 69 el Camino. I have 15 x 7 on it now. I like the beauty ring with the squared off look. I like how it reflects the air vent holes. This look seems to only be with the 15 x 8 Corvette Rally wheels.

Is that look possible with the 15 x 7 rally wheels. I love this set of wheels I have now. My tire guy said the factory Chevrolet Rally wheels have always been a high quality wheel and he's never seen too many bad ones compared to other brands.

He really does a great job balancing wheels. He shaves the rubber of the tires and uses the roller when he balances wheels. He didn't have too much to say about todays aftermarket wheels and Bias Ply tires except that he doesn't touch them.

Any thoughts welcome..

I'd like my rallys to look like the white el Caminos wheels especially the rears.

Just the rings will run you @ $100-$150, and that again for the caps or more as they can reach $80+ a piece. And that's if you get the right fitment, not all rings and caps fit all that style rim.

This is my 71 when I got it with the disc brake center caps. I have since swapped to VN500s. It’s hard to beat the looks of 15” Rally Wheels.

Pitts, I once owned a 70 and it ran the Corvette 15x8's on the rear with 275/60's. Clearance was perfect unless I decided to use it as a truck. The tires would rub on the wheelhouse up inside. Some air bags would have probably solved that problem. I wish I had some pics to share because that ElCo sat so good!

There are also alloy 15" rally wheels out there if you want to reduce the weight of a steel wheel. One thing I learned about GM rally wheels is to run them on a spin balancer to make sure they are true...many have been "curb kissed" in their lifetime and bent, rendering them almost useless unless you have a press and lots of time.

If your 70 still has the 4:10's in the rear a tall tire is nice for over the road travel to cut the RPM's, nice piece, enjoyed the story.

Not to be too pedantic but 1st gen corvettes didnt have rallye wheels and certainly not 15x8. Still your wheels with hubs or derby's will look great - I love rallye wheels.

15x8 Rally wheels seem to be pretty hard to come by in the correct bolt pattern (aka not 5x5" truck rallys) unless you're buying new aftermarket ones. 15x7s are certainly more easy to be found though. If you like the Rally style wheels though and want a true 15x8, I'm a big fan of the C3 Corvette optional alloy wheels. They have a similar look to Rallys I think.

I've been looking to replace my rear Vette 15x8's with 10" rims. I had 10" Centerlines and Cragars on my 68 Elco, but they rubbed the outside fender edge. I'm having her painted as we speak, and are having them shave off 1/4" from fender lip to run 10" ralleys. Question...do they need different (deeper) trim rings, or will 8" rims work? Here's what the std. Corvette rims look like...

Depends on the rim. If you maintain the same backspace, a 10" is physically 'deeper' than an 8", so will require a 'deeper' ring. If you maintain the same depth, but increase the backspace, it'll use the same ring as before. If you change both, you'll still need new rings.

I've seen the "Vision 55" rally, it says 4.25" backspace...not sure what is stock. They are about $80 ea. for the rims, but I guess I'll have to call 'em to get more info. Cheap [email protected]$%<> that I am, trying not to waste good OEM parts.😁

I have 255s on the back of it and while I have 205s on the front right now, I'll probably replace them with 235s once they're used up.
