Hello. I may be posting in the wrong area, if so, please forgive me. I recently had my 83 Elco painted and unfortunately I don't have a garage. I'm looking for a good outdoor car cover to protect it from the elements, pollen, bird doo, etc. I live in east TN so the sun beats down in the summer as well. Any recommendations? Huge thanks in advance.

I've used California Car Covers for many years. Several different fabrics and materials to choose from. You might want one for the pollen months and a different one for the sunny summer months.

Thank you! I've heard good things about CCC. Any particular cover from them you would recommend?

I wouldn’t use a cover just because of the constant putting it on and off not to mention other issues . Waxing it all the time also isn’t a great idea but using a high quality ceramic coating would be your best option IMO. A pro detailing place will charge 700-1200 bucks to do it and depending on how you wash (2 bucket method or foam cannon and ph neutral soap) are the best methods. The coatings can last 12-18 months.

I use the Reflectect Outdoor Custom Fit Car Cover. More to protect the interior from the blazing Fla sun than the paint. The thing I like about the Reflectect material is that it is very lightweight and does a good job of keeping out the pollen (I live in a wooded area), leaves, bird droppings. And it is reasonably priced. Make sure to get the custom fit as it will stay in place during all but the more sever winds.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to look into these. The leaves and pollen are horrible in my area.

If you have the room, you might want to look into the portable garages at Harbor Freight. I picked mine up for 199.00 on sale and with a coupon. It is about 10 X 17 so my elco just fits length wise. It protects against sun, rain, hail, light snow and keeps most of the pollen off. I live in South Carolina, so I know pollen. The great thing is, I just unzip the flap, roll it up and secure with velro and drive out. When I come back, I back the elco in release the flap and zip it back up. Easy. I have also run electricity to the garage and keep a trickle charger on the battery.

I have had this garage for a little over a year now and it is holding up very well. I see no deterioration and it has survived high winds and very heavy rains keeping my elco safe. Since I parked this garage in a ground location, I got a heavy duty tarp to lay down as a ground cover. I plan to get concrete pavers and create a floor with heavy plastic underneath. I used to use a car cover, but that got to be a pain. I like this because I can still work on the engine and keep protected.

Like Mike Baker I have a 4 side carport 10 x 20 and like it better than a cover. If you don't have a clean car the cover gets dirty and when the wind blows it's a mild sandpaper so a good wax job is needed. The cover is great when you park elsewhere overnight. Plan on replacing the canopy top every couple years for $150 and anchor the frame real good too.

This may be a better option for me. I may grab one of these and skip the cover. Thanks bud.
