I have a 1982 with a 305. Motor is out and a LS is going in. I would like to retain the stock gauges. When I pulled the 305 I saw two sending units I assume for oil pressure. One above the oil filter and the other at the back of the block by the distributor. I hope to adapt the right one to the LS motor.
My question is which one sends the pressure data to the dash gauge? Thanks

The one down by the oil filter should be for the gauge.

Thanks. It is a funny looking canister type. I wonder what the other one does?

The one by the oil filter with the single prong is for the gauge, the double pronged switch up top behind the distributor is part of CCC circuit and activates the choke when it senses oil pressure. I believe either location on the block can be used to get a reading if you decide to relocate the gauge sender.
