I have a remote starter switch I like to use to bump the starter when working on the engine. Was thinking about splicing a wire into the purple starter wire where it comes out of the firewall and hooking it to a insulated stud on the inner fender. Then I could connect my remote starter clips to the stud and to the battery when I want to bump the engine. The ignition switch would be off when I use it. Do y’all see a problem with this?

if you look for an old Ford starter solenoid they have a button on the bottom of them to bump the starter. My buddy has a 38 Ford and he has one on it as well as his 47' Hudson.

Thanks for your reply! I used a Ford type solenoid on my older 2 vehicles but they didn’t have a button to bump the starter. Didn’t know some came with one. Good to know!

.. If you don't have this and it's a blank, you can jumper it with the remote start switch..

Thanks for posting info along with pictures! My 86 doesn’t have this but this is very interesting to see!
I will wire in a switch and mount under hood.
