Okay so I've had my El Camino for about 3 years now (still love it) and I've been working on it slowly but steadily. And the other week some a$$ put me into a ditch while I was making a LEGAL 3 point turn. In the ditch my right side view mirror hit a tree and completely knocked it off. The bolts are stripped and the mirror is crushed. I still have the outside of the Side view Mirror and I haven't mounted it back on yet. Any Suggestions on what would be the best way to repair that part?

I'd suggest seeing if you can find a local junk yard or parts car that you can pull off a mirror from, or the whole assembly, being an '86 it shouldnt be to hard to find. I might beable to get you a whole headlight assembly from a parts car i've been feeding off of.

you could rethread the stripped bolts perhaps and get a smaller nut with a larger washer? not to sure never removed the mirror before
