After exhaustive research, interviews and nationwide polling, the results are indisputable! 2nd generation El Caminos are the most beautiful, classy and most sought after crucks on the planet! It's just a shame there are so few to go around.

Let's all hoist a frosty adult beverage in honor of these fine motor vehicles!

...And just think, the 4th Gen.'s are consider as "The Red Headed Step-Child" Back in its days, unwanted, unloved and undesirable,I'll be the first one to tell ya that I love this type of model,I like it when it first came out back in 73,and after 35 years later,I got one,so,my dream car is my Elky. I did owen a 64 S/S Malibu with a 283,it was fun,but it wasn't an El Camino...
The general population polls say Lady GAGA and Nickelback
are awesome. why go with the flow? :poke:

Cult following things are always cooler :cool4:
I guess I'm a true 4th gen guy, since I'm on my 4th one ! And it will be my last project, at my age. I say, everyone to their own poison :smileyb: You get & drive what you like best, end of story:beer:
pahlease , 2nd generations are almost as cool as first and third generations ,note I said almost ,bahahaha

actually I love them all but nothing can touch the fins andchrome on a first gen
I am surprised! I was sure a few members would take my bait and come out swinging. I guess there isn't much passion here ???? Just trying to have a few laughs.
At least my 64's were made entirely in the good 'ol USA, not Mexico or Canada.
I can't believe how hard it is to start a foodfight here!

Got a spare hook down here , you don't need much burly on it, if any, I'll send it up on agisment, its proven to hook up.

Never was one for popularity, just picked on a poor orphan , they need more help to survive.......one day the orphan will return more , although I could be in for a long wait.
meh, i personally and a 4th gen fan, and 3rd gen is second for me...

James, I think we are all on to you and your devisive tacticts. Are you a gubment stooge just trying to divide and conquer? But, I too like the 2nd gen. The 66 in particular.
I was driving my normal route home a few weeks ago and almost ran off the road. I saw a canary yellow '67 Elky sitting next to a barn. I had never seen it before. I made an illegal u-turn and went back to investigate. The land owner was just climbing down from his tractor. I approached and introduced myself and handed him a NECOA card so he would be able to tell I was a legit cruck lover. He looked at my 87 and said, So you like elkies, huh?.
The story is, His aunt bought the car new in 67 and it iss the only car she has driven since. She is now 95 and th elky was parked back in 1995 due to her poor eyesight. None of her kids want the car and SHE is now wanting to have it restored. Thats the reason he pulled it out of storage. It has a few rough spots on it but for the most part it's in great shape. He said it was not for sale. Yet.. I wrote my contact info on the card and told him to call me if it became available. So for now, the car is under a car cover, under a carport. I see it every day. Who knows, I may be the owner of a 2nd gen before long.:texas: Oh yeah.. 327 wit da powerslide and a/c, p/s, p/b 73k miles

i,VE OWNED ALL OF THEM EXCEPT THE 1ST. GENERATION . I LOVED THEM ALL.
Even tho I own a 5th gen, I'm a 3rd gen fan deep inside.
^ x2 ever since I started to learn what an el camino was I knew I wanted what I now know is called a 3rd gen. The nose on the 68 is my all time favorite tho. cheers to us an our interesting vehicles.
If I had the garage space, I'd have one of each generation.:nanawrench:
Just as I thought 2nd gen is indisputable the sexest Elco produced. With the lack of other gens owners piping in, it just seals the deal.

FORD ? Doesn't that mean Fix Or Repair Daily ? Or is it Found On Roadside Dead ? Inquiring minds want to know!

JARHEAD, I hope you get lucky and have a shot at picking that 67 up. Not being a Texan, I need to ask this: Do cars rust badly in Texas if they are off the road a long time but covered ? Being originally from New Joysey where everything rusts out, except DeLoreans, from the road salt they spread in winter, I am not up to speed on the humidity in Texas. Is it anywhere near as dry as Arizona in the northern areas?

Only reason why I hate 4th gens is because the parts are too hard to locate.
2nd gen rules! Beauty and beast. My father, who's 18 older than I am (almost to the date) didn't think the 2nd gens were "classic" enough. I showed him a few pics of the 59/60 and he fell in love! Then two weeks ago he calls me and asks what I think of this "truck"? It was a 64 Chevelle El Camino, 80% restored (not refreshed) with a 283 and 2 speed powerglide! He's having her towed up this month! Sad to say he's in the same boat I am, no fenders, no quarter panels but, the pics of the under side are really impressive!

If you have anything newer than a 72 you're muscles have succumbed to atrophy! In fact, if anything in the schematic of your car says "sensor" you got no muscle at all!
