now now.....

Only reason why I hate 4th gens is because the parts are too hard to locate.
Just where is that pioneering american spirit.

You managed to knock down the 5 post rule for scammers and dumpers, your nearly there......
Why have something that everbody else has ? like a can of coca cola, everywhere you turn.

Although sometimes one can hate ones self for looking after an orphan, and the heavy responsibility of guardianship but,
someone has to stepup to the mark and care for them.

Nobody wanted early model Ferraris and such ......how much now you ask , it doesn't matter what you personally think of the cars...look at the auction prices now.....GM scrapped their "FUTURLINERS" ....after the Parade of Progress.....how much now......

Besides half the fun is the fishing trips .... and discovery, or not .(because there maybe a lot of fish , but there is a lot more water ).
Price is commeasurate with the rarity, so I hope this helps, if not there are some guys here whom may have the name of a therapist, after wearing out the internet searching....(what did we do prior, swap meets, word of mouth.)

Also yours is the last one stolen, as no one else wants it..ha ha and its easy to find in the parking lot too.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (might need glasses).:cool2:
Only a parent ( guardian )can love their child like no other.

Oh Lockjaw ,

close again...all the others may apply but !!!

Fast On Race Days ,
when it matters, apparently.

Wasn't the 67' gt40 a le mans winner.
64' falcon sprint , monte carlo rallye.
Didn't a 64' slick win its class this year at the Salt Flats.

John, that is too funny. Go back to your siesta!!

EL CAM, I have had some fine fords over the years. My fave wasn't titled a Ford. 67 Shelby GT350. Bought it for 4250 bucks. Barrett Jackson gets an average of $300K for nice correct ones these days. Who knew ?

im kinda partial to FORD myself. been drivin a '94 stang since i could drive.

got my el camino a year later. It's been a back and forth thing, Drive my elky daily, and drive the stang when i wanna piss off some of the rice around town (they seem to love the P*ss on imports sticker in the back window)

and yes, the 2nd gens are beautiful, and the 4ths prolly my least favorite. But then you see those ones that pop out and are amazing and it changes your mind.

whatever generation is your favorite, we all drive awesome cars.

I have been called a "comedian" by teachers, professors and a few ex-wives.But, the truth is the truth!

After exhaustive research, interviews and nationwide polling, the results are indisputable! 2nd generation El Caminos are the most beautiful, classy and most sought after crucks on the planet! It's just a shame there are so few to go around.

As a 2nd gen owner I should drink the koolaid....if for no other reason, she`s been treated like a newlywed since she arrived.
I`ve marveled over, cussed and fussed over, and had my hands on every piece of her for the past three years.

But the hard cold truth is.....I never thought she was as fine as a third Gen.....

there.....I said it !

Lockjaw ? any advice? split the sheets? try to reconcile? or just find a younger mistress (3rd gen) ?

I`m just askin...

First Generation

I'll take the bait. As a one time owner of a 1959 red & white EL Camino with fender skirts, a 283 V8, a PowerSlide transmission, and power steering, I disagree!

The 59 was like driving a small aircraft carrier as it floated over the road. The flat fins appeared as the landing deck of the ship in the rear view mirror. The seat was wide enough for 3 large guys to sit there without being to cozy. It rusted so quietly that we could even hear the radio. While not fast, but it was smooth. I even took to the antique drags once at Desoto Speedway and lowered the tail gate and looked good while loosing to some loud hopped up Chevy of some non memorable grandmothers body style.

Yep I like the 59, but the 1960 just didn't have that special flair. The second generation Elky's where during my out of country military time and didn't get in my blood. The third generation editions where cool, but I was busy with street rods and really old antique cars and never got around to owning one. All the fourth generation Elky's were to big and heavy looking for my taste.

Then I bought my 79 Caballero and loved it, but didn't get much support on the home front for my "1/2 car / 1/2 truck." After a few years it had the bad luck of leaking on my new brick driveway and was sold at a cruise-in one night. Almost immediately I missed it and started watching for a good one. It had to be rust free, original and good colors for the heat of Florida. After about 6 years of watching I bought the current 5th Generation 1981 Cream & Champaign Conquista, but I still would rather have a first generation 1959.

HASBEEN, it's all good, brother! These old crucks need and deserve to be pampered and cared for. Too bad the aftermarket cottage industry that offers us little else than asian made crap for repro parts can't do better. It's the little things that get my dander up. For instance. The window sealing rubbers are horse manure (cleaned that up). So are too many other items. I have long contended that if we constantly demanded better made domestically produced parts these suppliers would make an effort to step up. I don't show my cars so I don't lose sleep over the nickel dime stuff. It's just the idea that we have to send to China to get replacement parts for an American made auto.:poke:

Well, I'll add my 2 cents...
My preference is the 3rd generation, if only because the late 60s were my formative years. Those were special times that those of us who can still remember -- were when we, as well as our country, were going through so much change. Our generation (not the third, LOL!) seemed to be pioneers on so many fronts. Music!? Wow, I digress...
Anyway, the muscle car era, the 60s -- those were the days, my friends.
