What's the best strategy to deal with this jammed seat belt fabric? Any gen 5 members ('79) have direct experience unfolding it from the cross bar? Would wetting it first help? Replacement options, worst case?
First figure out the orientation. Nothing worse than getting it unstuck just to find out it's now backwards. Then it's just a matter of squash and feed, aiming the squash part out towards flat. Just takes time and patience and some manipulation. Do not get it wet or soak it, that'll just make the fibers swell, and harder to move, as well as introducing the possibility of staining. Just muscle it dry as is.
