What's up Region 6? I hope all is well and everyone is doing good. I'm still in the Pacific Northwest. The weather has started to improve which is great but as most of you know, this region stays overcast cold and rainy most of the year.

I watched the new last Tuesday (04-17-12) as I was getting ready for work and saw where Space Shuttle Discovery was getting ready to make it's last voyage to it's final destination. It made a final pass by the Space Coast and Space Center then headed to north.

It wasn't long before the pics started to hit my inbox from some of the few coworkers left at the Space Center, Some from Califnornia, and Houston. It was a great program. i got to meet and work with alot of amazing people. Best of all I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of 25 years working on that program. Enjoy the pics...

The Enterprise is now loaded onboard the 747 SCA for its flight to New York. However... weather has delayed that trip.

Thanks for the pics you all! I love the shuttle!! We just missed a landing at Edwards AFB Ca, one year,, missed it by 30 minutes,, we flew over the long runway and looked at the shuttle on the hammer head at Edwards,, we flew to Palmdale and waited and another shuttle on the 747 showed up for depot work,, that was a 2 for one special!!! I wish I could of seen one blast off!!!!!!!!!!! I was surprised the Air Force museum at Wright-Patt did not get one,,, well we have the only XB-70 left,, matty man

Well, it is more of an Air Force/Military facility. I would think NASA wanted them to go to homes where the focus was education. Could also be that WP didn't want to pay out the 28.8 million NASA required as costs to prep and transport.

Of the 4 survivors:

Discovery - we already know - Smithonian Institution.
Enterprise will be put up on display on the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum in New York.
Endeavour goes to the California Science Center in LA.
Atlantis stays at the Cape.

Part of the stipulation was to display the vehicles at locations that had the most public access. Here's a few more. They keep coming.... LOL

82 Elco , Thanks for the photos and good to hear you are well . Must admit I am a little envious of the job you have had with the shuttle efforts for these years . Great Job !! I know it must put a lump in your throat seeing it fly by again ! I always ask for more photos so why not indulge us ? How about that great nighttime photo you put up before . I think it was the " Endeavor " , sitting on the launch pad ? This effort is certainly something this country has a right to be pround of . :You_Rock:

You guys be sure and come to Houston and see the Shuttle that we got as part of the program. Since Johnson Space Center was the hub of all manned space flight for NASA , we had our pick of the litter.!! WAIT !! WHAT??? Houston didn't get a Shuttle??:let_it_all_out: I think I might remember that on Nov. 6th..:texas:

Hey Jarhead,I feel for you man,I think Houston should have got a shuttle.Should have been 1. Cape Canaveral,2.Houston,3.Smithsonian,4.Wright-Patterson AFB,Ohio,I can't believe we actually got one here in Brevard county,Fl. even though every space shuttle took off from here,present politics being what they are.No idea what NY & Calif. had to do with it.

Enterprise arrives in NYC

Pretty inevitible I guess. I received a handful of Enterprise arriving in NYC late last week. Enjoy the pics..
