I have a stock 84 el camino with the 305 V8. I don't really know what tranny I have, may be a th250c. Was hoping someone could help me with that.
Also i recently dropped the tranny to to get to the rear main seal. Long story short, after I replaced the filter and pan gasket to the tranny and installed it back up, it now is spewing fluid out of the filler tube. The tranny dipstick even popped out.
I looked up what it could be. One post said it was a clogged vent tube( I have no idea where that would be), another said a bad torque converter. I never had any issues like this before I dropped it, just a small leak. I would appreciate if anyone could help.

welcome Manzy
heres a link to ID the Transmission..
Trans ID
.
yea we have them little dirt dobbers here that will plug up the vent tube,,
that forces the fluid back up the dip stick tube when the trans warms up..
vent tube is usually on top of the case about where the bell housing flattens out..
.
to clean the vent tube
I like to put a little bit of air pressure on the case thru the dip stick tube,
so the dirt/grease in the vent wont fall back in the trans when you
rod out the vent tube with a piece of wire..
it don't take much air pressure..
.
then I put a piece of door screen on the vent tube,
secured with a couple of small tie wraps, to keep it clean..

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. Going to work on it again today and see if this solves the problem.
