It's time to start planning to attend our annual "El Camino Spring Dust-Off" on Sunday, May 7, 2017. We will be hosting this event again at the newly-remodeled Jimmy's Pizza Bar on Route 125 in North Andover, MA from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The breakfast menu will include a huge omelet of your choice, including home fries, bagel or toast, and a bottomless cup of hot coffee for less than $10.00 per person in their warm dining area.

Around noontime, we will leave in a caravan to cruise over to Enigma Hot Rod Shop in Billerica, MA to see several works-in-progress, including an early 1930s Cord undergoing resto-moding by a member of the New England Hot Rod Hall of Fame. He have will much of his racing memorabilia on display and will also demonstrate how to use sheet-metal fabricating equipment in his shop. This shop is a prime supporter of Fisher House of Boston, which is a home-away-from-home for military members and their families who are undergoing treatment at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury (Boston) but can't afford to stay in a Boston-area hotel. We will ask our members in attendance to write a check to support this most-important work! After this, we will drive in a convoy to a Drive-In on Route 38/129 in Wilmington, MA for ice cream and beverages at this 1950s style restaurant and show off our cars some more.

This is always a fun gathering and it doesn't matter the condition of your car -- trailer queen, daily driver, weekend cruiser, or work in progress. There will be plenty of Elky experts to share good advice on maintaining your ride and even swapping extra parts with others. In order to reserve enough parking at Jimmy's, we need to hear from everyone in advance and make sure there is enough food. Please email me at [email protected]

You can also register on our new Facebook Group page for "New England El Camino Owners" and start up conversations with other local owners. Here is a link to that page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1635635633400380/

Hope to see you there!

Three weeks to go and the weather is getting better. All the snow is gone!
Hope to see more new members this year and remember you car is welcome in whatever condition. Beaters and works-in- progress are just as important as fully -restored trailer wueens!

Congrats on your first post, Brian! Will look forward to meeting you next Sunday.

3 more folks have signed up since yesterday's listing, so we are close to reaching 40 cars.
I was over to Enigma Rod Shop this morning to coordinate with owner, Mike Casey. Also checked out the parking lot at the shuttered SONIC drive-in in Wilmington (where we we park after the Rod Shop visit) and we can buy soda, ice cream or sandwiches next door at McDonalds and have the entire parking area for our cars.

Regarding the weather: Good weather in New England simply means No Snow on the Ground!

Beautiful weather for spring dust off!!

The weather forecast for Sunday morning May 7th in Eastern MA is turning out to be terrific for our Spring Dust Off!

Sunny skies and no rain throughout the daylight hours are now predicted in our area by Weather Underground.

Hope we can get the word out to everyone in the area to show up the breakfast, cruise and other events!

I'm praying with all of you for a dry morning. I have almost five hours today just into polishing my wheels.....I now have a sore back, can't feel my hands, and I'm out of beer ? ! Hopefully all will pay off when they hit a little sunshine in the morning. See you all then!
John

We started this Facebook group to keep New England members informed of our local activities and because it is so much easier to upload photos directly from our iPhones while the event is happening. Those who live close enough to New England are welcome to follow this group so you can see our photos immediately on your smart phone. Best regards and hope to see many of you at our 9th Annual "El Camino Night at Lee USA Speedway" on Friday, July 14th in New Hampshire.
