I just bought a SunPro Tach II tachometer to install in my '69, but no amount of messing around will make it work. The car has an MSD 8555 distributor, what looks like an MSD 6 ignition box an MSD Blaster 2 coil.

I've tried connecting the tach to the tach output on the ignition box, as well as the -ve terminal of the coil. Neither work, though; the tach simply doesn't register.

Looking on the MSD website it seems like I might need an MSD tach adapter, however this thread here on the Forums suggests that it may be unnecessary.

Can anyone help me out? I'm pretty new to non-EFI ignition systems!

Well.. this is embarrassing. I didn't have a good-enough connection to the MSD box, after crimping on a new connector everything works correctly. :nanawrench:

Hah, thanks :yell: now I just have to find a place to route the tach signal wire. Any idea where the easiest place to go through the firewall is?

Should be some holes near the throttle cable.

check where the speedo cable goes thru the firewall, see how big the rubber gromit is??:dontknow:
dont let the tach wire ground out on any thing..
