I have a 78 El Camino, it has a motor and trans from an 85. 305ci and I believe the TH350. I noticed my trans has a TV kick cable and a four prong plug that ain't used. I have been informed that to switch, I need a kit to deal with the TV cable, lock out switch, driveshaft shortened, and mod crossmember to go to a 700r4. The trans I want to put in is it if an 88 Camaro z28, could I just use the driveshaft from the Camaro if the length with the trans is the same as mine stock? Second, obviously someone has done this before can I get the link to some build threads? Thank you for your help!

I changed my El from a 350 to the 2004R and I would never look back.Just simple great ! I did screw up and have a shift kit put in and about 800 bucks later finally got it back to a decent/good shift pattern. I will never waste money and time on a shift kit again, of course mine is a street machine also.:tree:chimney
