So I bought my cousin's 68 El Camino. He told me it has a 375 Turbo. It's leaking and slipping and he thought it has the wrong filter. I get underneath to take a look and try to verify that the tranny is a 375. My understanding is that the 375 looks like the 400, but has THM 375 stamped on the tailshaft housing. I only see THM stamped. Is it possible that this is a 375, or is this a 400?

The one I had did not have it stamped on it. I only found out because I pulled it and it was wrote on it. Before that I'd never heard of one???:dontknow:
I also had a 400 next to it to compare.

I had a 375 around here, but gave it away. I seem to remember that the tail shaft had the same spline as a TH350, 700R4 etc, and was told that the 375 wasn't as beefy as it's TH400 cousin.

I just grabbed both rear seals for comparison. The 375 outside diameter overall is 2.56 inches across. The 400 seal is 3 inches across. That should clear this up! :beer:
