14K428422 was stamped on engine at the final vehicle assembly plant as the engine was sequenced to the vehicle install. Often called the Con VIN, COP VIN or as GM called it, the VIN Derivative. Divsion code/model year/final assembly plant/last 6 digits of the vehicles vin (standard across all divsions 1968 up) and required by state and federal statue.
1 - Chevrolet Division of GM
4 - Model year 1974
K - Leeds Assembly (GMAD), Kansas City, MO
428422 - Last 6 digits of the vehicles VIN or as they say "Matching Numbers Engine"

GMAD - GM Assembly Division
Con VIN - Confidentail VIN
COP VIN - Location and info original only known to cops and insurance investigators, which was used to convict auto chop shops of possessing stole auto parts. They were stamped on the engine, transmission as well as the body and frame, in several locations almost impossible to get to without tearing the car apart.
