I'm looking high and low for any diesel El Camino. If anyone knows of one that could possibly be for sale - please let me know.

craigslist's got 'em.

not a seller or anything, but there are a few out there.

wouldn't be selling if i DID own one, anyway, would guard it with my life.

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1454431519.html (dallas, $1000)

http://fargo.craigslist.org/cto/1434893684.html (MN, owner has converted to gas though)

http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/1455429891.html (florida, $1600)

that should give you a good geographic range. all i ask it that when you've finished the project, you send me pics.

what is your plan? taking out the junk 5.7 and putting in a duramax, or a 6.5 turbodiesel? or are you converting to gas? very curious. that's all i ask in return for my google skillz.

5.7 diesel

i thought the olds 5.7 (and 4.3) diesel were only in gm cars, and not pickups? el camino being the psuedo-exception?

could be wrong though.

starting in trucks at least, gm got the 6.2 diesel in 82 or 83 and never looked back to the olds. my '83 g20 chevy van had a 6.2.

a little research: '82 was the first year of the 6.2.

the 5.7 diesel ran in gm cars until 1985. yeesh.

you would be better off to build yourself one than to buy one all of the factory diesel cars were built with converted diesel engines that are basicly junk and are prone to cracking. You would be much better off puting a 6.2 or a 6.5 out of a chevy or gmc truck. These are better engines that were built by Detroit Diesel and have basicly the same size and weight as a stock big block chevy and even use the same motor mounts.
