'79 ELCY w/350 - Was driving the other day and had to muscle the car around
a corner. Pulled over and found I was losing anti-freeze in buckets and looked
like power steering fluid all over the engine compartment. P/S reservior is dry.

After getting it home I looks to be a bad water pump but how does the power steering
come into play here?

Also, I got the water pump ready to pull out but it's not budging. Took out the
2 top bolts and the bolt to the power steering bracket. Are there more?

Thanks all!!

What he said. Two on each side. They're one above the other about 2 " apart.

Maybe something punctured both pumps?? No other idea.

Thanks guys!! I found the 2 missing bolts ;-) and got it off
and new water pump on last night. I'll deal with the p/s
issue after I get everything back together and tested.

steering fluid will come out the vent on the cap when the belt won't turn the pump, you shouldn't have any problem with the pump
