Hello,
I purchased a rear sway bar for my 84 Elky from OPGI. It does not have u bolts that goes over the axle. It just bolts to the control arms with two bolts per side. However, it came with a shim kit. Is it critical that it is centered? Or are the shims just to create a tighter fit? Installation looks pretty straight forward but it came with no instructions.

I think the shims go inside the control arms to prevent the bolts from crushing or tearing through it. Do you have a pic of the "shims"? Factory ones look like 2 short pieces of pipe connected by a flat piece of metal.

Yes, it also has the spacers that go inside the control arm. These are flat shims that appear to go between the sway and the control arm. I guess it is incase it doesnt fit perfectly it fills the gap?? RTT
