i know it had a hole like this in the threads but i was wondering if i could go to the hardware store and buy a bolt with a little hole in the threads and a nut . Would that work ???

Yes! but would it be possible to just get the bolt with a hole in it and a nut ??
Probably not. The part you showed us a link to is meant to do a different thing than the part you really need that was linked from O'Reillys... it would be a good idea to get the proper part. It's only a few dollars, get it! :yell:

the hole goes all the way thru it. it's the same thing they use on all replacement cables for bicycles and go carts and lawn mowers. it's a very common part and super easy to work with. just make sure you get it tight or the cable might slip.
