ok so im trying to use the stock steel wheels again and wondering if 225/60/14 will work in the front and rear of my 78 ?? or should i run those in rear and 215/60/14 in the front ?? or should i run 70 series like stock ?? and do trim rings work on steelies ??
I have 235/60/15's on mine. No issues except a slight rub on the fender on full turn in the front. So if you have 14's just calculate height and width based on the 235/60/15's and maybe stay a size narrower.
If you're not married to the 14's, did you consider going to 15's on maybe an N90 Monte wheel? Rallies are always a good option, or in fact 15's from an 84 Monte SS........happy hunting!
I have 235/60/14's front (14x7)and 245/60/14's rear(14x8) on my 84 with slot mags. At first I didn't think I would like 14's but I actually think they look more "natural" on the car. No rub whatsoever with 3.5 backspacing. When I put my 15" (235/60/15)rally's on, from the front of the vehicle they look too tall to me and rub slightly at full lock.
