I am in the process of switching from lights to gauges in my 5th Gen El Camino. These holders are made of plastic and I've noticed that there are 3 different colored bulb holders--black (1), gray (2), and light blue or green. The black holder is for the headlight Bright indicator; grays are for turn signals; and the rest are light blue or green in the remaining locations. All of the bulbs are 194s.

what about the wire harness colors? do they match up? may have to do with assembling harnesses at the factory so they get plugged into the right socket?

There are not wires which connect directly to the plastic light holders in the instrument package. There only is the printed circuit board behind the gauges.
