When installing a 700r4 in a 5th gen how much do I need to shorten the drive shaft? Or better yet,are there any vehicles out there that the driveshaft would be a direct bolt in for this project? And also is the crossmember the same for a 700r4 and a 350th ?

my fourth gen i had cut exactly three inches and it fit perfectly,to get an exact, measure from the front of the bell to the end of the tailshaft on both transmissions, subtract the difference. (mine was three inches) i used the 350 crossmember, but had to drill new holes to move it back a couple inches, but i believe a fifth gen already has the holes.

I got mine from a 1983 Chevy C10 pickup. It had a TH350 with the 9" tail shaft. Fits perfectly. I don't remember if it was a standard or long bed and what size the cab was.

Just measure what you need before you grab one. You need one 3" longer.

Very true. Alot of Chevrolet/GMC truck owners replaced the 700R4 for a 9" tail shaft TH 350.
