Hey all, I'm new here, I'm on the hunt for a 5'th gen El Camino or Caballero, I put up some want ad's and got a reply from a guy who says he has what he thinks is a 79 Diablo for cheap, he's not super tech savvy but after a week or two I was able to talk him through sending pictures on his phone, he sent me this.

I've been trying to figure out some of these codes but they're not all like the ones in the book, nearest I can figure is it's a bucket seat car that had white upper and lower paint and black in the middle? It's got buckets, a console, round gauges with a tach, power windows and locks, no evidence of diablo stickers or badges that I can see in the pictures, badge missing from dash, it has a 350 and he says it's got an OD transmission but I was under the impression that 79's didn't have OD so it could be a replacement.

And I can't find the 05C code anywhere, is this thing a Diablo? Asking the seller to look around for the build sheet and then getting him to figure out how to send me the picture would likely take weeks so that probably won't happen. Anyone have any idea what this is?

What Randy was saying is, on a 5th gen Camino the RPO codes denote options the car was built with. They can be found on the inside of the glove box door. The vehicles VIN number is also on this sticker so you can be sure it belongs to your car. Z15 is a typical RPO for an SS model on a Chevy......Z88 is a typical RPO for GMC version. You can also find paint codes on this sticker......very useful if you still have yours.....I'd get a really good readable picture of it. 8)
