New to this site,
Was once an avid 79 SS driver and I know how much you guys love your rides,
I still have the ride as well a rare stand up factory built fiberglass camper on top of it,
Thanks Doug

Welcome to the forum. Glade you could stop by. Also by making a post to sell something you are breaking the rules. You need to have at least 50 posts and put it in the sell section. Just talk to us for a little and by then you will have 50 posts. We are a great bunch of guys who have the same passion!

get yourself a account at photobucket.com (free) and upload the picture. Copy the adress of the photo and use the insert image sting box here. (looks like a box with a mountain drawn in it.) make sure it does not start with http/: twice in the box.... that trick will mess with ya LOL

Click on the picture you want to link at photo bucket. 4 boxes will appear and one says direct link. click on direct link and it will copy it for you.
In the posting dialog box here it has a icon at the top with a mountain.. thats insert image. click it and a box will pop up. erase the http in it and paste the adress in. you want just the address of the picture not your account.

I've never seen anything other than the caps (toppers) on Elkys. I wonder how many were sold and how many still exist. If it were mine I'd keep it, just because no one that I know has one!! (That might explain the shelves full of usless crap that I have)

Thanks to everyone for the feed back (good and ??)
I just spent an hr replying to your comments but it ended up in cyberspace,
But I'm gonna try one more time
Hopefully this add will answer some of your questions,
So 'Texas' NO Bubba didn't make it'
And 'Tuggy' over cab bunk and a table that folds down 2 sleep 4+
Hopkins MFG Milan Ill, bought in 83 (used) and they told me they made about 400 units,
And like '87' said it was and is called the Idlewild,

Wow, I guess that's versatility for you right there.

Still, I'd never put one on an El Camino. I don't know of any El Camino's that came with more than a 1/2 ton rear end. Even on a Full Size truck a cabover camper shell can overload the rear end. I had a neighbor who experienced that problem.

I'd bet it's got overload springs on it and beefy air shocks on the rear end.

Holy cow man... have you ever read something on here and actually been stumped?

Well, yeah the camper my neighbor had actually stuck out over the hood so it was kinda big.

I just really don't care for the look but to each his own.
